National AIA Convention: Miami – June 10-12, 2010 National AIA Convention: Miami – June 10-12, 2010

National AIA Convention:  Miami – June 10-12, 2010

The upcoming June Convention will bring architecture professionals and building industry contributors together from around the country. The National AIA Convention is the year’s definitive focus on conditions and events that are shaping the future of the profession of architecture.

Convention registration is currently open on the National AIA web site.

The National Convention is also the annual occasion for electing National Officers of the Institute by vote of delegates that represent AIA Chapters in the US and world-wide. Pasadena/Foothill Chapter is appointed up to 22-delegates who may cast votes for officers of the National AIA for coming year 2011.

Qualifying and Voting
Convention site voting will be through computer terminals located in an area called “Town Square” located off Exhibit Hall ‘D’ (Refer to location on plan of Exhibit Areas on the National web site). Special computers will be setup to verify delegate membership status, generate accreditation reports, and automatically count votes. Note that delegate cards are required to complete the automated delegate accreditation process.

Delegates will be required to present one signed delegate card to the staff at the accreditation desk during the specified accreditation hours on Thursday, June 10, or Friday, June 11, in order to become accredited and vote.

Obtain Delegate Cards from Chapter President or Secretary
Anyone interested in attending the Convention in person, and serving as a delegate, should notify Richard McCann, Chapter President or Joe Catalano, Chapter Secretary before end of business on Tuesday, June-8th and obtain an authorization card signed by either the President or Secretary.

Note that votes are lost (not cast) if a delegate accredits but does not vote.
