MAKING MORE MONEY MANAGING RISK


A goal identified by many design firms today is to become more profitable. Based on industry surveys, and firm specific risk assessments, this session will identify claim trends along with the correlation between effective enterprise risk management programs, and the improved performance and profitability of design firms. Based on an extensive analysis, key risk categories have been identified and the characteristics and risk management efforts of design firms that lead to lower risk, better performance, and higher profit margins.

Timothy Corbett, Founder & President/SmartRisk

Timothy (Tim) Corbett, Founder and President of SmartRisk has extensive experience developing and implementing risk and performance management programs for design, environmental and construction professionals. Tim implemented model programs for hundreds of firms including international organizations Bechtel and EG&G. Tim held Vice President (VP) positions with industry leading insurance carriers with responsibilities for underwriting, risk management, and claims Analysis. Mr. Corbett is a member of American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) American Institute of Architects (AIA), the United States Green Building Counsel (USGBC) and the Enterprise Risk Management Academy (ERMA) and sits on their educational advisory board. Tim has been published and quoted in professional publications, including authoring the risk management chapter for Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Project Deliver Practice Guide (PDPG) 2nd edition. Mr. Corbett holds a BS in Security Risk Management, MS in Management focusing on organizational development and process improvement, obtained a certificate in Architectural Design Technology, is Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) accredited and is Enterprise Risk Management Governance Certified (CERG).

 



Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made at least one week prior to the event will be refunded, less a $10 cancellation and processing fee. No refunds for cancellations will be given after that time. No refunds shall be issued for no-shows. Registration may be transferred to another individual.” AIAPF reserves the right to cancel any event where the minimum number of pre-registration registrants is not met. If such a cancellation occurs, registrants will be notified and given the opportunity to select an alternate and comparable event to attend. In the event such an alternate and comparable class is not available, then the registration fees will be refunded as appropriate. Further, dates, times, classes, program subject matter, instructors, panelists and fees are subject to change, without notice, at any time at the sole and absolute discretion of AIAPF.
