CES: Continuing Education

AIA Pasadena & Foothill is an "AIA CES Registered Provider" of continuing education programs for members. This means that AIA Pasadena & Foothill is one of more than 2500 educational providers within the AIA/CES systems made up of AIA Chapters, affiliate organizations, manufacturers, universities, other non-profit organizations and government agencies. Our goal is to provide the best available continuing education opportunities to our membership and related industry professionals.

Look for the AIA/CES provider logo to denote AIA CES programs

When you see the AIA/CES logo advertised in conjunction with our educational seminars, workshops, and conferences you'll know the specific program has been registered through the AIA CES system.   If a program is registered, this means that all members who register and attend will have their time recorded for credit by the provider (eg. AIA Pasadena & Foothill).  AIA/CES records are kept on file with the University of Oklahoma where transcripts are maintained for all AIA members.

For non-AIA members, AIA Pasadena & Foothill will provide a certificate of completion upon request for all AIA/CES programs offered by the Chapter.

Remember, all active AIA members must successfully complete 18 learning unit (LU) hours each year, with at least 8 LU hours relating to health, safety and welfare (HSW).

Visit our home page listing to register for AIA Pasadena & Foothill continuing education programs and to learn about other educational programs of interest within the community. We've also tried to include programs offered by CES providers other than AIA Honolulu as we hear of them.

Check your transcript online

Click here to view your transcript online at the AIA National website to make sure you have completed your required 18 AIA/CES LUs (8 of which should be HSW) for your AIA annual membership.

Self-Report those programs you attend that are not registered with AIA/CES

If a program is not offered by AIA Pasadena & Foothill or another AIA/CES registered provider, AIA members have the option of self-reporting independent activities or research.  The intent of this activity must be educational in nature and related to new knowledge in reference to their practice of architecture.  The AIA national component offers an excellent Frequently Asked Questions section where members can learn more about Self-Reported Activities and other AIA/CES requirements.

Click here to be linked to the AIA National web site for a refresher on the Self-Report form.

Click here to view your transcript and complete your AIA/CES self-report form online through the AIA National Component web site.  After you enter your AIA member number you will be directed to a site to view your transcript online, fill out your online self-report form, and many other AIA CES options.

Information for Educational Program Providers

If you and/or your firm are providers of quality educational programming and can offer speakers on related industry topics and issues of concern to local AIA members and design industry professionals, we'd like to hear from you to explore future programming opportunities. You might also want to learn more about becoming a local Affiliate Member.  One of the benefits of local Affiliate Membership within AIA Pasadena & Foothill is the opportunity to connect with AIA members through programs such as our "lunch and learns."

If your company or architectural firm is a regular provider (throughout the year) of educational programs geared to architects you might want to explore becoming an AIA/CES Registered Provider.  Information on the AIA/CES Provider Program can be found on the AIA national web site.  Click here to learn whether this program might be right for your organization
