AUGmentecture / Augmented Reality in Architecture

           (Learning Units: 2)

AUGmentecture combines the two worlds of architecture related software and the science of augmented reality.
Currently in the construction industry, once the plans have been developed and issued to the contractor, it is then the contractors responsibility to view the two dimensional plans, construction documents, and fully understand the intent of the designer. Normally the design renderings of the project are printed as hard copy and presented for visual understanding of the intent of the project. AUGmentecture streamlines the entire augmented reality setup, and simplifies the printing, and processing of the models. Think of it as printing a PDF, but it would be in the augmented reality format.

Learning Objectives:

1. A general overview of Augmented Reality technology for information representation

2. Highlighting the advantages of utilizing AUGmentecture for facilitating design communication with clients and contractors

3. Highlighting the advantages of utilizing AUGmentecture as a marketing tool for architectural offices

4. Making Augmented Reality as accessible as PDF file communication

5. Experiencing design in multiple locations and scales (from study model scale to full immersion)
